Guardian Program

What is a Guardian program?

In order to provide our dogs with the best possible quality of life and the individual attention they deserve, we have established a Guardian Program. This enables us to expand our breeding program responsibly, ensuring that neither our dogs nor we are overwhelmed by the number of dogs under one roof. Our goal is for each dog to enjoy a spoiled life as a cherished member of a family, allowing them to reach their full potential.

Our Guardian Program offers local families the opportunity to have a Big Red Paw Doodle without the initial financial commitment, while we retain breeding rights for the dog. Interested families undergo a thorough interview process and must agree to adhere to our Guardian Contract.

This program is highly beneficial for the dog, the Guardian family, and our breeding program. It is a mutually advantageous arrangement where the family gains a high-quality pet, we can enhance the breed with top-tier individuals, and the dog receives dedicated attention, training, and proper care in a forever home. Upon completion of their breeding career, full ownership of the dog is transferred to the Guardian family.

requirements

• Reside within one hour of Marion, TX and possess reliable transportation for transporting the dog to and from Big Red Paw Doodles.

• Own your own home with a fenced yard or commit to keeping the dog on a leash when outdoors.

• Ensure no intact dogs reside in your home or are exposed to the dog to prevent unintended breeding.

• If guardianing a female, be willing to learn and manage heat cycles and transport her to us as agreed upon.

• During breeding times (approximately one week), females must stay with us, returning home one week before delivery. They will remain with us throughout whelping and nursing (8-9 weeks).

• If guardianing a male, availability for about a week at a time will be discussed individually.

• Provide premium dog food; we recommend Diamond Naturals (non-grain free) or Purina Pro Plan (non-grain free).

• Cover routine vet care, heartworm and flea/tick prevention, grooming, boarding, and other pet ownership costs.

• Ensure the dog is well socialized, groomed, and maintain open communication with Big Red Paw Doodles regarding the dog's care.

• The dog must be kept indoors and be part of your family, ensuring its safety and well-being.

• Commit to the dog for its lifetime; once its breeding responsibilities with Big Red Paw Doodles are fulfilled, we will spay/neuter the dog and transfer ownership to you
