Guardian Program

What is a Guardian program?

To give our dogs the best life possible, with as much love as they each deserve, we have decided to implement a Guardian Program. This will allow us to continue to add quality dogs into our breeding program without us or them being outnumbered and overwhelmed by the number of dogs under one roof. We want each dog to be spoiled and be part of a family to reach their own potential.

This program allows local families the opportunity to own a Big Red Paw Doodle without paying for it while we retain breeding rights for the dog. We carefully interview families interested in this program as these dogs are the future of our program. Families must be approved and agree to abide by our Guardian Contract.

The guardian home program is an excellent deal for the dog, the guardian parents, and for producing an exceptional dog in our breeding program. It's one of those "win-win" situations for everyone involved. The family receives a quality dog for their forever pet. We are able to improve the breed by using only the best for bettering the breed and the dog lives in a forever home, receiving one-on-one of attention, training, and appropriate care. Once the breeding program is completed, full ownership is given to the Guardian.

requirements

• You must reside within one hour of Marion, TX and have reliable transportation in order to transport the dog to and from Big Red Paw Doodles.

• You must own your own home and either have a fenced yard or be willing to keep the dog on a leash when outdoors.

• No intact dogs must live in your home. You must not expose the dog to intact dogs in order to prevent unintentional breeding.

• If you guardian a female, you must be willing to learn how to detect heat cycles and then deliver the female to our care within the guidelines agreed upon.

  • We will need the female during times of breeding (about a week or so). Once bred, the female will stay at her home until one week before delivery. She will return to us at this time to get settled before she delivers her puppies and will stay with us during the duration of whelping and nursing the puppies (8-9 weeks).

• If you guardian a male, we will need him for about a week at a time and frequency will be discussed individually.

• You must feed the dog premium dog food. We feed our dogs Diamond Naturals (non-grain free).

• You will be responsible to cover pet ownership costs such as routine vet care, heartworm and flea/tick prevention, pet supplies, grooming, and boarding.

• You must ensure the dog is well socialized and groomed.

• You must keep open communication with Big Red Paw Doodles regarding all matters concerning the dog.

• The dog is to be kept safe and be part of your family. The dog must be an indoor dog.

• You must be willing to commit to this dog for a lifetime since you will be this dog's forever family. Once the dog has completed its breeding responsibilities with Big Red Paw Doodles, we will have the dog spayed/neutered and ownership will be transferred to you.
